Semi-metallic pads for the appropriate NUTT caliper

Two black backing plates with side tabs and rectangular friction surfaces form the pair of semi-metallic pads. The friction area measures approximately 30 × 17 mm; a spring and retainer are included.

The 30 × 17 mm measurement refers to the friction surface, not the overall outline. Before replacement, check the installed caliper and the mounting tab position, especially on vehicles with upgraded brakes.

Brake pad material

Semi-metallic friction material combines metal particles with a resin binder. The compound offers a compromise between initial bite and heat resistance. A clean disc and gradual bedding-in of the new pair are important for consistent braking.

When to replace and how to get started

• Inspect the pads if braking performance deteriorates or if there is uneven wear or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the brake instructions for the minimum permitted thickness.
• Remove the retainer and the old pair. Following the procedure for your caliper, make room for the new pads, then insert the spring, new pair and retainer. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check that the wheel rotates freely and the lever works correctly. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe place, without locking the wheel.
