Semi-metallic NUTT pads with cooling fins

A pair of semi-metallic NUTT brake pads features black backing plates with distinct cooling fins. Metal particles in the resin binder form the friction material, and the fins increase the surface area for heat dissipation. The included spring and locking pin hold the pads in the appropriate caliper.

Before replacement, compare the overall contour, the pin opening, and the clearance above the caliper. The finned backing plate requires sufficient clearance from the caliper and other parts of the brake assembly.

Application applies only to the installed NUTT caliper with the corresponding pad shape and mounting.

Semi-metallic material combines metal particles with resin binder. The compound represents a compromise between initial bite and thermal resistance. A clean disc and gradual bedding-in of the new pair are important for uniform braking.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if you notice decreased braking power, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in your brake manual.
• Remove the locking pin and the old pair. Prepare the space for new pads according to the procedure for your specific caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the locking pin. Do not grease friction surfaces.
• Check wheel rotation and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual slows in a safe area without locking the wheels.
