Wide ULIP sintered brake pads with ZEE M640 shape

The ULIP Sintered pair features bronze-colored backing plates, a wide friction surface, and upper mounting tabs. The overall outline of the pad measures approximately 39.4 × 24.5 mm, with a thickness of 4.1 mm.

The hole for the retaining pin is approximately 3.4 mm in diameter; a spring and cotter pin are included. Before selecting, compare the exact caliper code and the shape of existing pads, especially for bicycles with different model years of components.

Compatibility condition: installed Shimano BR-MT420 caliper. Also compare with the shape of D01S/D02S/D03S family pads.

Brake compound

Sintered metal pads generally handle heat and wear well in wet conditions. Compared to organic pads, they can be noisier and cause more wear to the rotor. Use a rotor compatible with metal pads.

When to replace and how to start

  • Inspect the pads if you notice poor braking, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in your brake manual.
  • Remove the retaining clip and the old pair. Prepare space for new pads according to your caliper's procedure, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the retaining clip. Do not lubricate friction surfaces.
  • Check wheel free rotation and brake lever action. Bed in new pads with gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
