Wide ULIP sintered pads with ZEE M640 shape

The ULIP Sintered pair has bronze-colored backing plates, a wide friction surface, and top mounting tabs. The overall outline of the pad measures approximately 39.4 × 24.5 mm, and the thickness is 4.1 mm.

The retaining pin hole has a diameter of approximately 3.4 mm; a spring and cotter pin are included. Before choosing, compare the exact caliper code and the shape of existing pads, especially on bikes with different years of equipment.

Compatibility condition: Shimano BR-MT420 caliper installed. Also compare the pad shape of the D01S/D02S/D03S family.

Brake pad material

Sintered metal pads generally handle heat and wear well in wet conditions. Compared to organic ones, they can be noisier and cause more wear to the disc. Use a disc that allows for metal pads.

When to replace and how to start

  • Check pads in case of poor braking, uneven wear, or contamination. Change both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake manual.
  • Remove the retaining pin and the old pair. Prepare the space for new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the pin. Do not grease friction surfaces.
  • Check wheel rotation and brake lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
