Brake pad material

The ULIP Superior Metal semi-metallic pad combines metallic components and a binder. Metal pads generally handle heat well under repeated braking but may be louder and wear the disc more than organic ones. Use a disc that allows for metal pads, and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if braking performance decreases, wear is uneven, or contamination occurs. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the retaining pin and the old pair. Prepare space for the new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check the free rotation of the wheel and the operation of the lever. Bed in the new pads with several gradual slows in a safe area without locking the wheel.
